So its 2am and as always a ton of stuff is flying through my head and I feel as though if I don’t write something my head is going to explode. Therefore I must engage in this therapeutic writing session… Soooo this past weekend me and my brotha Anthony Lee were invited to perform at a show at UC Merced. We drove up and engaged in a fatty road trip bromance sesh. During our drive we started reflecting upon ourselves and began to discuss things we wanted to improve in our lives… this basically led to discussing the changes we wanted to see within ourselves. And my brotha Anthony said some words that really resonated in my head. Something along the lines of… “I want to be more positive…its getting harder to stay positive about situations in life, and it didn’t used to be like this” And I HELLA RELATED to that!!! So then the obvious next question in our discussion became: how do we become stronger and more positive???? Now I’m not claiming to have some mind-blowing answer to all this… I am simply experimenting with solutions and trying to see what works best- and I wanted to share these experiments along the way. So here goes… When it Comes to Everyday Things: The Thankful List: I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Being thankful keeps you sane. Literally go down the list of all the things you have in life that you are thankful for. Even though it is super generic… really think about it- it can become a crazy chain reaction of thoughts that can completely transform your DAY… which could result in changing your WEEK…. which could result in changing your MONTH ….which could result in changing your YEAR… which could result in CHANGING YOUR LIFE!!!! hahaha so here’s an example! -I am glad that I have a house… damn actually I’m glad I have a bed…holy crap I’m glad that I’m warm when I sleep at night…dude I’m glad I’m not hungry when I sleep at night… I’m already hella in a better mood right now LOL for real tho. When you wake up everyday or maybe even setting a daily ALARM to remind you to do so… might sound crazy but reflecting upon your blessings is something that I feel should be prioritized in order to be thankful and rejuvenate your strength to be positive amidst the negativity of our everyday lives. When it comes to People: Finding the Root!: What exactly is it that is bothering you or keeping you from being positive in situations pertaining to people? Not easy to do at all.. but pinpointing the exact cause of why you feel a certain way towards someone/something can help you to remedy it in a more effective fashion… Usually for me after you dig down deep I’ve found that it seems to all boil down to deep insecurities within yourself. Either they’ve somehow poked a deep insecurity within you, or you’ve poked a deep insecurity within them… or an exchange of pokes at each others’ insecurities which causes this whole negative chain of energy… eff that! Pinpoint the insecurities, be aware of them, then solve the problem and delete hahah. Insecurities plague the world but God has yo back and if you call upon His help… HE HOOKS IT UP! LOL Not sure if that made any sense… but felt like documenting this thought anyways. Also…… having someone be accountable for you is HUGE. It can basically serve as a POSITIVE recharge for when you are feeling down. When you are aware of a change that you want to make within yourself, it doesn’t hurt to let someone else know about it… and reach out for their help on it even. Now I’m not saying you have to get all emo (if you want to be emo thats cool too lol), but even just as simple as telling someone that you want to quit being lazy about something… and then having that person remind you to get up off your butt and pursue your dreams can be infinitely affective and helpful if you let it be. WHY AM I WRITING ALL OF THIS YOU ASK?? haha well I feel as though the time has come for change! AN Immediate change for me! If everyone in the world was a little bit more positive about life the world would be a different place… even if it started with about 20 people being hella positive. Sounds stupid i know… but really think about it! In just a one day, even just 100 People throwing out madd positive energy to everyone around them (putting people in good moods and transforming any negative energy into positive energy) would resonate into thousands of people’s lives. Those good moods would continue to spread and if that positive energy was able to be maintained.. maybe people would be able to perform to their life’s fullest potential instead of letting negative thoughts inhibit their goals and dreams…. Lots of crazy stuff is going on in the world right now. North Korea just attacked South Korea… There was a stampede in Cambodia which killed 400 dead and counting… Lately It feels more and more like these are chaotic times we are living in are only going to get crazier. We can either watch it happen before our eyes or get up and do something about it- Let’s be soldiers of positivity and promote change within the world. First babysteps with positivity, then with realizing our own goals and dreams.. and focusing on how we can actually contribute to changing the world as individuals instead of sitting here on Earth contributing to a meaningless existence… Let’s affect the World… one positive thought at a time. POSITIVE RECHARGE son.
Hmm random thoughts have accumulated in my head over the past couple months and now have decided that this would be an opportune moment to manifest themselves into a tangible existence. (My thoughts have a mind of their own…) In the on-going journey to maintain a positive outlook on life there are many twists and turns along the road. As a matter of fact, the older you get, it somehow gradually becomes a bit more difficult to maintain the same level of high-octane positivity that youth had once provided you with. Yet, I refuse to believe this concept that many others believe to be a truth. This negativity concept being something along the lines of: ”The older you get, the more truths you realize… thus realizing that being positive is simply being overly idealistic” DAMN! That is a dangerous concept to explore! I’ve definitely dabbled in this thought process recently and wondered to myself if this may possibly be the rude awakening or harsh realization that life brings upon everybody. It seems as though this is the mindset that plagues alot of individuals (especially for the age group that is recently out of college and re-evaluating life routes). Through the process of reality kicking in and growing up… it’s super easy to fall into a negative route of thinking. Everyone does it at some point. But the hard part is getting back out of there!!! And for some reason, it seems harder if you surround yourselves with negative individuals. Not at all to place the emphasis of blame on the individuals that surround you, but to moreso to recognize that you are getting increasingly more vulnerable to negative influences. The older you get, the more susceptible everyone becomes to these negative mindsets thus causing a chain reaction of negativity! Therefore you have to find your source of positivity within yourself. And be conscious of the great things that exist in our everyday life. Whatever situation you’re in, don’t forget to take a moment to be thankful for everything that surrounds you. Being thankful keeps you sane. If someone around you offers a negative perspective to a situation you’re in, you gotta make sure to counteract it with a positive thought. Yet, its definitely not so easy to always whip out a chunk of positivity at any moment’s notice. But that is the struggle that we are blessed with everyday… Yet, there is also an upside once you are able to dig out this chunk of positivity… pass it on! Holy crap a few positive words can totally transform someones day. Then once that person is feeling positive, they might positively affect another 3 people that day… and so on… thus creating a chain reaction of positivity!!!!! hahah So in a nutshell, I feel like this generation I am a part of has hit the checkpoint in life that includes scary realizations and drastic life changes. And that a cloud of negativity has preyed upon so many people… including me. The chain reaction of negativity is a monster that digs a deep hole extremely fast. BUT I believe that one of the solutions to this is that when you are feeling that surge of positivity - SPREAD that ish!!!!… you can never underestimate the power of positivity and its chain reaction… and to the negative forces around you… you have no choice but to throw positivity in that direction… and when you find someone with the same positive energy——- RECHARGE EACH OTHER LIKE CRAZY!!! hahahahah ok enough rambling. the most important thing is that God will always be able to recharge you with more than enough… you just have to remember to ask for it.
